Biography:
Scott Aharoni is the Co-Founder of Curious Gremlin, an American independent entertainment company specializing in film and television development, production and financing. He was born, raised, and still currently resides in New York. He is a producer and director who has screened his films at hundreds of festivals around the world including Cannes, Venice, Berlinale, TIFF Tribeca, and many others, as well as landing a spot on the 94th Annual Academy Awards shortlist for Best Live Action Short.

Escalar Steve Buscemi como um serial killer é uma das coisas mais óbvias que um time de casting pode fazer. Deve ser por isso que não ocorre com freqüência. A verdade é que o ator é uma boa escolha para qualquer coisa: ele tem um timing cômico contido, mas excelente, principalmente para interpretar comédia em personagens que não são propriamente engraçados. Como o serial killer de Conselhos de um serial killer aposentado. Um título de filme longo, mas uma tradução incrivelmente mais contida do original Psycho Therapy: The Shallow Tale of a Writer Who Decided to Write About a Serial Killer. Um título tão longo que é basicamente o resumo do filme. Parece que o diretor turco estava testando qual o limite de caracteres aceitáveis pela indústria de filmes. Olha esse shallow no meio do título, por exemplo. É um adjetivo descartável, que está lá só para ocupar caracteres. O elevator pitch desse filme deve ter sido mais breve do que isso. Só faltou adicionar um “But in the end, everything was okay” no título que você já teria um pitch de produção. É mais provável que o pitch de produção do filme tenha sido somente uma foto de Britt Lower. A atriz, vencedora do Emmy este ano, e eterna Helena Eagan (e eterna Helly R.) de Severance, consegue roubar as cenas que aparece, inclusive com Buscemi. Completamente magnética, tudo ao redor dela se distorce, como se ela fosse um buraco negro de atenção. Impossível olhar para outra coisa quando ela está em cena. Sobra compaixão para John Magaro, que teoricamente era o protagonista do filme, mas fica espremido entre esses dois monstros. Ele não é ruim, mas a disputa é desleal. Por sorte, o roteiro ajuda: Conselhos de um serial killer aposentado é bem divertido. Despretensioso, sem ousadias de direção, poderia ser uma bobajada chata. Mas Britt Lower e Steve Buscemi estão aí, não deixando nada ficar chato.
